Pregnancy and Birth

If you are pregnant, it is important to start your prenatal care right away. Visit our office to sign up for health insurance programs that start paying for your prenatal care as soon as you know you are pregnant and help you begin caring for your newborn.

EqualityCare Pregnant Woman Program
The EqualityCare Pregnant Woman program covers all prenatal and postnatal care for you and automatically covers your baby for one year after you give birth. We can help you complete the application, which will be sent to the local Department of Family Services office for determination of eligibility. If you are eligible, you will be covered through your pregnancy, plus 60 days postpartum. Your baby may be covered through his or her first birthday.

Presumptive Eligibility Program
Presumptive Eligibility is part of the EqualityCare program, and it is designed to improve your access to temporary outpatient services while EqualityCare benefits are being determined. The primary criteria for eligibility is that you must be pregnant, a U.S. citizen and Wyoming resident, have a Social Security Number, and meet income requirements. Presumptive Eligibility begins the day you are deemed eligible and ends at the end of the following month, at which point EqualityCare kicks in.

Call Johnson County Public Health at 684-2564 to make an appointment with one of our Qualified Providers to complete the application.

Pregnancy and Childbirth Classes
Johnson County Healthcare Center and Johnson County Public Health partner to offer pregnancy and childbirth classes addressing pregnancy changes, nutrition, labor / delivery, infant CPR, and car seat safety.

Hand in Hand Program
All new parents can use some help giving their little ones a great start in life. We can help you get started with the local Hand in Hand Program, which offers support and assistance for new and expecting mothers. Services include home visiting, lactation consulting (breastfeeding support), support and educational services during and after pregnancy. In addition, a nurse will help you identify and apply for other services.

Insurance coverage for prenatal and children’s healthcare
WIC (Women, Infant & Children) Program
Child development screening referrals
Breastfeeding education, pump supplies and counseling by a Certified Lactation Counselor

You can save time by completing the Hand in Hand and Welcome Home forms and bringing them to your first appointment.
