Car Seats
Wyoming law requires young children to be properly restrained when
riding in vehicles. The Johnson County Safe Kids program at our office has certified car seat safety technicians on hand to
install your car seat or check that it is installed properly. You can also
get your car seat through our program. Call us at 684-2564 for an
appointment or more information, or stop by our Buffalo office at 210 N. DeSmet.
Bicycle Helmets
Protective headgear can save your child's life if used correctly.
Before purchasing a bicycle helmet or choosing one of the helmets
available at our offices, you need to make sure it fits. The helmet should
be worn low on the forehead, about 2 finger-widths above the eyebrows. The
inner pads and chin strap should be adjusted to fit snugly so the helmet
does not shift up and down or side to side.
Make sure you choose a helmet that meets the U.S. Consumer Product Safety
Commission's safety standards; this should be noted on a label or sticker
somewhere on the helmet.
Horseback Riding Safety
Do your kids spend a lot of time around horses? Johnson County
Safe Kids is a great source for gear and vital information that will keep
them safe when they ride. We recommend Safety Equipment
Institute-certified equestrian headgear, and we do have helmets available
at our offices.
You must also make sure your kids practice proper
safety etiquette when handling horses.
