      Board members are appointed by the County Commissioners.  Joint Powers Boards have both City and County members.  Board members elect their own officers and set their meeting schedules.  All Boards contain at least one County Commissioner serving as a member or liaison.

      Special Districts are created either by Resolution of the Board of County Commissioners, by Petition of local landowners or by the State Board of Agriculture through a Petition of landowners.  All of the above require public notification and some may require a referendum.  The method of creation is  determined by the type of District.  WY Statute: 22-29-103

       Special District Board members are elected not appointed.  Ad Valorem Taxes may be levied for funding upon voter approval.

Passports

When is a Passport Required for Travel?

The U.S. Passport Book may be used by U.S. citizens to travel by any means to any international travel destination.

The U.S. Passport card may be used by U.S. citizens to re-enter the United States at land border-crossings and sea ports-of-entry when arriving from Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean and Bermuda only.

Passport applications and information can be obtained in the Clerk of District Court office
at the Johnson County Judicial Center or travel.state.gov

Applications are accepted from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday

Before traveling, check for any changes to passport requirements, travel news (including travel warnings), country specific information, foreign entry requirements, etc.  Please visit:

Passport Fees

**Passport Fees are Non-Refundable**

  • Adults 16 and over
    • Passport Book $110.00
    • Passport Card $30.00
    • County Fee $35.00
  • Minors 15 and under
    • Passport Book $80.00
    • Passport Card $15.00
    • County Fee $35.00

Adult Renewal Fee: $110.00. Minors Renewal minors must re-apply.

Passport fee must be in the form of a Personal Check, Money Order orCashier’s Check made payable to the Department of State. County Fee can be debit/credit card (Master Card/Visa), cash or check payable to the Clerk of District Court.

Required Documents

Adults

  • Form DS-11 Application signed in our presence
  • Driver’s License or other form of photo I.D.
  • Certified Birth Certificate and/or Expired Passport for adults
  • 1 Color Passport Picture
  • Expired Passport or DS-64 form

Minors

  • Form DS-11 Application (MUST BE SIGNED BY BOTH PARENTS in our presence)
  • Certified Birth Certificate
  • 1 Color Passport Picture
  • Expired Passport or DS-64 form
  • Minor must appear in person.

Passport pictures can be purchased at:

  • Buffalo: The Office (684-2215) and Lanna Wing Photography (684-2425)
  • Sheridan: Photo Imaging/ Finish (674-6912) or (674-6639) and Walgreens (674-1936)

Expedite Service

If a passport is needed in less than 6 weeks it is strongly recommended that you expedite your application.

  • Adults $60.00
  • Minors $60.00
  • OPTIONAL EXPRESS MAIL – Overnight Express Mail – $15.89

Effective November 1, 2016 passport photos of customers wearing eyeglasses will not be accepted except under special conditions
